Take Five with Aliki Katriou

Singer, Eight Lives Down · Rijeka, Croatia
17 July 2026

Aliki Katriou is a singer based in Rijeka, Croatia, and the voice of Eight Lives Down. Right now the band is writing new material and getting ready for a run of summer shows, including a gig in Bremen this July.

What does your working week actually look like right now?

I work full days on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and those are pretty taxing. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are for admin and everything else that needs doing. Sundays are hopefully off.

How do you find the people you work with?

I work with my bandmates. I found most of them online.

What's one thing about the music business you had to learn the hard way and what do you do now when you hit that wall?

It was difficult for me to realise that the music business, especially festivals, look at social media numbers and confuse them with sold tickets. When we run into that now, we either have long conversations with the people involved, or we just watch as the festival keeps making the same mistake and loses more money over time.

What does the work look like when it's going well?

When it's going well, the work looks easy. There's good communication, and problems get solved with little hassle or discussion.

What are you trying to figure out right now?

How much energy to put into social media, and for how long at a time.

Aliki Katriou and Eight Lives Down are playing Bremen on 25th July.
