Laurent Schark is a London-based producer, DJ, and radio host with more than 30 years across luxury venues, international events, and clubs. As a producer, his music blends house, disco, afro, and uplifting electronic music with strong energy and emotion. He is known for his DJ skills but also for his engineering work (mixing and mastering), and right now he is deep into a new project built around sound design and a strong vision for how it plays live.
Right now my week is a mix of nightlife performances, music production, radio work, and constant behind-the-scenes organisation. Some days are spent in the studio producing, mixing, or preparing radio shows, while evenings and weekends are usually dedicated to DJ sets, meetings, client relations, or event planning for clubs and private luxury events. It's not always glamorous, and there's a lot of admin, promotion, networking, late nights, and adapting constantly to opportunities. I'm balancing the creative side with the business side every single week, while also being a father of two, so structure and discipline are essential.
It's a mix of long-term collaborations and new people I meet at networking events. Sometimes I simply reach out online.
That success in music rarely happens overnight, even when you're talented. Patience, consistency, and working on your craft every day always pay off eventually. I also learned that staying humble, honest, and surrounding yourself with the right people is essential, because an artist's success is always the success of a team, no matter how small that team is.
When I hit a wall now, I try not to force creativity. I step back, give myself time, keep learning, and reconnect with why I started making music in the first place.
That's a tough one to explain. I guess you simply feel it. Creativity awakens naturally, emotions become instant, and ideas flow without forcing them. Whether I'm producing, mixing, or playing live, the best moments are when everything connects almost effortlessly and the music starts speaking for itself.
How to scale what I do without losing the quality and identity that made people connect with me in the first place. I've built strong experience, relationships, and credibility over decades, but the music industry constantly changes, so I'm balancing artistry, visibility, branding, and financial stability all at once, and that's a tough one, especially with everything happening around AI right now.
I'm also working on creating more long-term structure around my projects, growing the radio show, releasing more original music, developing higher-level collaborations, and turning momentum into something sustainable while still keeping a healthy balance for family life.
Laurent Schark will be DJing at U9 bar for the London Luxury Nightlife Awards on 26th May, and is nominated for Best DJ 2026. Also playing regularly across venues and luxury clubs around London.
